Dana Sherill

A collection of paintings, thoughts & ideas

I’m a biologist who loves to paint. Or a painter in love with biology. I hope to share with you some thoughts and ideas about the things that interest me, and hopefully start a discussion on these subjects. And who knows, maybe in the future I’ll add some drum solo videos?

My Paintings

These are not all my painting, some of them found home in friends’ houses and offices, some were simply lost in time. These then are examples of the work I did over the last 32 years, and coincidently, there are 32 paintings presented.

Portraits

Exploration of the human body

Nature

Music

I’ve been studing the drums for the past two years, going back to a part of my life that I left some 25 years ago when I moved to Jerusalem to study at the Hebrew University.

Candles

These paintings are quite old, and where painted while I was exploring darkness.

A soldier

This is not a political painting. I found a press image, and the contrast between the military objects, the weapon, the shoe, vs. the pain in the wounded soldier’s face, was really striking to me.

Boats

Besides human figures, I love painting boats. The images reflacted in the water intrigue me, and I always sturggle trying to portray them.
